ABOUT
Christopher S. Cummings was shot and killed in the early hours of June 10th, during a premeditated home robbery in his fraternity home at Old Dominion University. He was not alone. Jake Carey, his fellow fraternity brother was also a victim, left in critical condition from being shot at close range.
Born on January 29, 1991. Raised in Woodbridge, VA, Chris attended both Potomac Senior High School and Forest Park High School, graduating in 2009. He was known as “Old Man Chris”.
Chris was then accepted at Old Dominion University, majoring in Criminal Justice and maintaining a 3.5 grade point average. His hope was to become a lawyer.
While at ODU, Chris was accepted into Theta Chi Fraternity, in which he was set to become Rush Chair in his Junior year. Drawn to the Fraternity’s high standards of morals and ethics, Chris strived to make a difference in his community as a volunteer at ForKids, where he counseled local youth, alongside his fellow Fraternity brothers.
Believing in the message of generosity, kindness and compassion, many were touched and inspired by Chris’s individuality. He considered his friends to be his family and accepted everyone, hoping that others would follow.
With this loss, we are left with this lesson, Chris’s last status on FaceBook.
“Speak your mind, pour out your heart and love your soul.”
